JUDEO-ALSACIAN MUSEUM

AMJAB Presentation.
The Friends of the Judeo-Alsacien Museum of Bouxwiller (AMJAB) is an association founded by Gilbert Weil, the creator of the eponymous museum.
Its goal is to bring the museum to life by all appropriate means:
- see to the maintenance and enrichment of the collections,
- animate the museum by offering conferences, concerts and temporary exhibitions,
- but also manage day-to-day finances, personnel, etc.
Like all associations, the AMJAB holds an annual General Assembly, which elects the 7 to 15 volunteer members of its Board of Directors, which chooses from among its members the members of its Executive Bureau (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary General with their Deputies).
The association is obviously non-profit.
Its annual budget is approximately 50 K€.
In expenses, we will find the incompressible costs (Garbage, electricity, water, insurance), office supplies, IT and maintenance, cleaning and the well-known sanitary precautions, the inevitable repairs after 24 years of operation, the entertainment and staff costs, purchases of books and documents, publications, etc.
Revenue is made up of contributions and donations, some public subsidies (notably from the City of Bouxwiller), but also entrance fees paid by our visitors.
The origin of the public of our museum is broken down into
near region (within a radius of 100 km, Grand Est and Germany): 60%,

Entrance fees represent, with sales from the shop, more than half of AMJAB's revenue.
It therefore clearly appears that the AMJAB needs ever more members (about a hundred in 2021) and ever more visitors - individuals or groups - to keep it alive, knowing that the 'AMJAB refuses to capitalize on schoolchildren, fortunately on the rise in recent years.
The Covid years that we have just suffered have obviously not contributed to the financial prosperity of the association.
We are therefore counting on all of you either to strengthen our team of volunteers or to visit the museum and introduce it to your friends and acquaintances.
Thanks in advance.
